Game research.

GAME RESEARCH

The game that I have researched is mega man. From what I've seen from every trailer. the story line is the same through out the different versions but there are prequels and things. I think this game trailer was aimed more for people who were about 10 - 15 in it's time. But as I see newer and newer versions of it I find that it's more for older people, people with the past knowledge of the game possibly?

We were to make a game demo of an plat form game using the frame by frame element provided by CS6 Adobe Flash.

CHARACTER DESIGN

This is my character for my game. It is an alien. He is wearing a Tu-Tu.
This piece was inspired by a piece of work that I saw on facebook.
The piece that inspired me was a collaboration by Tommy Munster and Aesop.

This is the piece that inspired my work. Done by Tommy Munster and Aesop.
As you can see the colours were a huge inspiration. The bunny rabbit looking character is what initially inspired my character, I.e the shape of the body. Someone suggested that I fill in the alien character in black. And it made the character look somewhat cuter as it just has little eyes peering.

CONSTRUCT 2

This image is my character design for my animation. He crashed onto an unfamiliar planet.

The character is a cartoon there fore the reason he is wearing a skirt does not really need to make sense. But the reason being for this is that it is what the people of his planet wear. They are are very evolved and don't have mouths because they communicate telepathically. The reason he's wearing the skirt is because he was being punished for getting a delivery wrong.

He his sent out to re-do the delivery. But crashes again. on a very strange planet.

This image is my environment. I chose odd colours and a strange design because I wanted the game to be somewhat surrealistic as is it an alien planet and a game. I made the sky patterned as if it was a old fashioned wallpaper. And everything else's opacity is slightly lowered to give the effect of a background. I really like this design because it is simple colour full and personally I liked the design.

This character is the enemy, he is native to the unfamiliar planet. He has a menacing look on his face because he is bad news! I chose for something to be cute because it's rare you find a character in a game to look so cute, but to be so bad.

This is my character walking around on the planet. I used an image source to reference the animation. I like the movement in the way that my character moves. I think it is very adorable and graceful, almost as if it skipping.

I like this also. I used another animation reference in the jumping because getting a persons movement accurate can be very difficult. I like the attention to detail that I had in this animation as I had to work out the skirt for myself. I like this because it makes the movement more apparent.

Here is a recording of the game play in my final game. I used all the information that I received during tutorials and experimented with making my own simply 2D game.

Here is the game that we made based on the tutorial that the lecturer gave us.
